Mindful Art Club began simply, born from personal experience and supported by our organization’s focus on coworker activities aimed at strengthening our wellbeing. Inspired by our shared love for art and belief in art therapy, my close sister at work and I decided to start the club. While I provided simple ideas and encouragement, my sister played a crucial role in bringing the club to life.
Initially, we faced apprehension, fearing our idea wouldn’t resonate, especially given the limited awareness of mental health in Asia. Originally named “Mental Health – Art Club,” we worried it might seem too extreme. That’s why we renamed it Mindful Art Club.

However, our worries proved unfounded as more people joined than we expected, and the first session was a resounding success with engaged participants. Surprisingly, my sister and I chose not to participate in the first session, opting instead to observe and improve future sessions for everyone’s benefit.

We didn’t expect to have so much fun seeing our coworkers enjoy their time and find happiness through art. Witnessing our coworkers finding joy and healing through art has been a fulfilling experience for both of us. We’re grateful for the support of our company, coworkers, friends, and especially my sister, who joined me on this journey.

Thank you and see you again!

This is the second session of our Mindful Art Club. We had canvas and pottery materials for people to choose from.

The third session has been the best so far for us, the two co-founders. We feel our members are enjoying the vibes and the mixed materials of acrylic and dried flowers. We were pleasantly surprised by everyone’s talent and creativity. Most participants worked freestyle and created their own art, not following our instructors, yet all produced amazing results. We both feel very happy that everyone is enjoying this, although it has also been the most time-consuming session for us.

We needed to draft the ideas, and my sister and the art instructor tested them a few times. We ordered dried flowers from different shops, and the art instructor ordered the glue. My thoughtful sister also prepared wrappers for our team members to protect their art, as the dried flowers are not yet adhered to the canvas. As organizers, we feel the teamwork went very well this time. I will post more artworks from this session as soon as I receive them from the members.
We are approaching the last session of our first tertial soon and hope our team members will maintain this energetic vibe and join us again.
