Week 1 – Day 7 – 26th Jan 2025
Topic #1: A Daily Habit
In the past, my mornings began with checking Outlook for emails. It became almost an addiction—if there were no new emails, I felt like something was missing. After that, I would prepare breakfast for Nasa. Although he had breakfast at school, I always packed an extra box for him to ensure he got enough protein.
There was a time when he wasn’t emotionally ready for school. For months, I stayed with him during breakfast time in the classroom to help calm him. Gradually, as he became more comfortable, I left the breakfast box with him, and he managed on his own.
Over the last two months, my daily routine has changed. I’ve been staying in my hometown with my parents, which is about an hour’s drive from my office. I now have a driver who takes me to work every day. My mornings start with a short motorbike ride to the parking area, which is also the pick-up point. While waiting for the driver, I sit at a coffee table, surrounded by trees, and take time to read or write.

Previously, I would have spent that extra time working, but now I dedicate it’s as me time. I’ve realized how wonderful it feels to begin the day with the pages of a book, sipping coffee or juice, and soaking in the calmness of nature.
At the end of the workday, when I return to the parking area, my dad and my son used to wait for me at the bridge. My dad would ride me and Nasa home on the motorbike. The “logistics” might sound overly complicated for just a one-kilometer ride, but those moments were precious. Nasa’s smile and excitement to see me always made my day feel complete.
Nasa isn’t with me right now, but I hope this temporary separation ends soon so we can be together again. I miss you every single day, my son.
Thank you for reading.
