The Beginning of “The 30-Day Writing Challenge”

This feels like destiny for me because I’ve followed the writer Ha Chi for many years, ever since I was in university and reading 2! magazine. I really admire her writing, and it inspired me to one day become a writer for the magazine or one of their books. I hope I’m remembering this correctly, but I recall an article—though I’m not sure if it was Ha Chi—that discussed a choice between being on an island with a human with a mermaid’s head or a mermaid’s tail.

One day, 2! magazine called for more writers, and I applied, but unfortunately, I didn’t make it past the interview.

Now, when Ha Chi started The 30-Day Writing Challenge, I knew I had to take part. I feel like I need a push to keep writing, and that push comes with responsibility. Even though I’ve been writing again for six months, I don’t do it often enough. If I keep writing, I hope it will become a habit. I’m not thinking about writing for 5 or 10 years, but at least I want to complete 30 days of meaningful writing.

Every week, we’re given 7 different topics to write about. I just completed the first week, and now I’m excitedly waiting for the topics for week two. When I get the topics, I take time to reflect before writing. It’s truly a journey of self-exploration, and I’m grateful to be part of it.

Thank you, Ha Chi, for bringing us along on this journey.
