A few years ago, I created a vision board for a five-year period: 2022–2027.
It was simple and inspired by Chi Nguyen – The Present Writer. I had six pictures representing six things I wanted to achieve in those five years.
So far, I’ve achieved one out of six—haha—not exactly proud to say, but I’m being honest with myself. And I still have two more years to go.
Recently, as I learned more about the process of manifestation, I was reminded that being clear with your vision is the first step. That inspired me to create a new, shorter version of my vision board.
It’s suggested to have different lengths of vision boards—short-term and long-term. Since I already have a 5-year version, I decided to create a 1-year vision board for now.
Five Life Areas:
- Love & Romance
- Career
- Family & Friends
- Home / House
- Hobbies / Leisure Time
I took time to really imagine myself one year from now in these five areas—visualizing where I want to be. I tried to feel the moments fully and enjoy them in my imagination.
Then, I found at least three images that represent each of these areas and the future I wish for. I placed them on a board—digital or physical, it doesn’t matter. The important part is to think of it when I wake up and before I sleep.
A Note to Self (and You, if you try this too):
When you visualize, don’t limit yourself. There is no tax on dreams. 💭
Think of what you wish for, not what you think you can achieve.
Even if it feels too hard or too good to be true—if it’s what you truly want, include it.
It’s not about how realistic it is—it’s about being honest with yourself: “Is this something I want?” That’s enough.
I was also surprised when, in my third coaching session, my coach asked me to dream again of my future self—what my life could look like.
And guess what? That morning, I had just completed my 1-year vision board. It was so fresh and vivid that I could clearly describe every part.
This process—visualizing our thoughts as images—really helps to clarify what we want, and set a timeframe to it.
No one else needs to see your vision board. And if you don’t achieve everything—there’s no penalty.
So feel free to fill your days with visions of the future you’re aiming for.

For me, I had very clear pictures of four areas:
Love & Romance, Career, Family & Friends, and Home/House.
And when I saw those four areas clearly, I realized something:
My fifth area—Hobbies & Leisure Time—is naturally fulfilled when the other four are in place.
That was an aha moment for me. Because I find joy in hobbies and leisure when I’m surrounded by love, good work, meaningful relationships, and a peaceful home.
That’s what my future self looks like.
Thank you. 🌱
